Message From Reverend Weyer's Desk
December
Dear Friends,
Christmas is a season for giving and receiving. When I think back over my life and my many Christmases,
a handful of special presents come immediately to my mind. I remember quite vividly the Bulldog Tank that
actually shot plastic projectiles. I remember, too, the pool table and the Schwinn bike. I remember giving
the gift of an engagement ring to Diane and receiving the gift of her saying yes. Precious memories! Special gifts!
ut the greatest gift of all is the gift of Jesus Christ. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son. ”(Jn. 3:16)
Yes, Jesus is the greatest gift you and I could ever receive. Jesus gives to you and me the gift of grace.
Titus 2:11 says, “...the grace of God has appeared. ” God’s grace, the unmerited favor of God has appeared in Jesus.
Jesus is the gift of God’s great grace. We are not worthy to receive Him, for He is holy and we are not, but He is given to us nonetheless.
There is a gospel song that raises the question as to how can we respond to God’s greatest gift to us.
What can I give Him? If I were a shepherd, I would bring him a lamb. If I were a wise man, I'd sure do my part.
Yet what can I give him? I'll give him my heart. My question to you is how? How will you give your heart to Jesus?
The four Sundays of Advent, which begins November 30, provide you a great opportunity to give Jesus your heart.
Our worship services will center on the classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge’s transformation.
It is a wonderful story of redemption, hope, and the rendering of his heart to Jesus.
We will celebrate our own stories of redemption and hope with our Christmas Eve candlelight service. The time of our service has been changed to 5:00pm.
Wishing you all the joy, peace, and love this time of year brings. May the joy, peace and love of Christmas live in your heart all year long.
Godspeed
Pastor Rich
