Note From The Vice President

Hello Everyone,

For those of you who may not know me, my name is Thomas Bynoe, and I am the new Vice President of Consistory. I want to first extend my gratitude to Laura Hogan for all her great service and hard work which she has done, and continues to do, for the Consistory and Old Brick Reformed Church. I intend to rely on her sage wisdom and advice to help learn the ropes in this new position for me.

I must admit, when Pastor George and the Consistory asked me to consider undertaking the role of Vice President, I felt woefully unprepared. It wasn't until I read a passage from Exodus Chapter 18 that I truly felt like I could be of service.

See Exodus Chapter 18
Before Moses had appointed judges to help him administer God's Law, he did it all himself. Finally, his father-in-law saw him in this position and counseled him that he should add judges to help lift this heavy burden from his shoulders. Moses obeyed and the whole of Israel prospered for it.

What I took from this passage was that we all need help. We're not supposed to do this alone. We need each other. As long as I can rely on my fellow Consistory members, Pastor George, and the Old Brick Congregation for guidance and support, I will be able to fulfill my service to the Church. Further, as long as we rely on each other, in matters great and small, concerning the church, I believe we can prevail in our mission and ministry.

Finally, I would like to acknowledge the Moore family, the Voorhees family, and the Rugnetta family during this period of sadness and loss. You're not alone in your grief. But more importantly, The Lord sees you. May he bless you with some comfort during this difficult time.

As we draw nearer to Easter and the winter begins to subside, let us all rejoice in the coming of the Holy Season!

Thomas Bynoe, Consistory VP

Happy Easter
